Ruth P. ‘Polly’ Talada
Ruth P. “Polly” Talada, 79, of Montoursville, passed away Saturday evening at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 5, 1937, in Towanda, a daughter of the late Willis Brown and Lucretia Herring.
She attended Towanda High School, graduating in 1955. She later attended Williamsport Technical Institute studying culinary arts. Polly worked as the head cook in the Montoursville School District for 20 years retiring in 1999. She loved traveling, camping, baking, sewing, and enjoyed playing cards and Bingo. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Red Hat Ladies.
Polly was a woman of deep faith and was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Montoursville. She loved her family immensely; she truly touched the lives of all those she met and will be greatly missed. Polly was married to David D. Talada in Powell on March 18, 1956, by Pastor Glenn Stewart.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her children, David D. (Susan) Talada and Denise E. (Jeff) Andrew; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Ms. Della Herring and Blanche (Thomas) Collins. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Lisa Talada Seyler and great-grandsons, Nicholas Talada and Mathew Shaffer.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at the Bethel United Methodist Church, 400 Montour St., Montoursville, with the Rev. Richard M. Barner officiating. Interment will follow in the Montoursville Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday morning at the church from 10 – 11 a.m.
Memorial contributions in Polly’s name may be made to Bethel United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Spitler Funeral Home, Montoursville.
