Wilfred L. ‘Will’ Briggs

Wilfred L. “Will” Briggs, 78, died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016, with his wife by his side at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.

Born June 15, 1938, in Barbours, he was a son of the late Dan and Ethel (Campbell) Briggs. He was the loving husband to Estella M. (Brown) Briggs and together they made wonderful memories.

Will retired as a truck driver for the American Rescue Workers. He enjoyed NASCAR and old antique cars. He loved country music and was known in the area for playing with his band the Sunshine Valley Boys. For over 60 years he played in the band where they entertained and played music for many area nursing homes.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Lisa (John) Lucas, of Williamsport, Robert Brown, of Montoursville, Denise (Chris) Wood, of Linden, James (Annette) Briggs, of Florida, Donnie Briggs, of Pottstown, and Jonathan (Susan) Briggs, of Wilkes-Barre; his granddaughter, Melissa Adams; and several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Will was preceded in death by a son, Clarence Briggs and a brother, Dana Briggs.

A memorial service to honor the life of Wilfred will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will follow in Barbours Cemetery.
