Vince Stein

VETERAN

Muncy resident Vince Stein, 85, died at the Gatehouse, Jan. 15, 2017. He was the son of Harry and Erma Stein. He has two sisters, Connie Egli, of Danville and Linda Stein, of Muncy.

During his boyhood, his dad, Harry Stein, had a service station in Newberry. There, Harry sponsored Carl Stotz’s fourth Little League team.

Vincent married Carol Rook, of Williamsport, and they were stationed in California and Alaska during the Korean War. He served aboard the USS Oriskany as the ship photographer, documenting take-offs and landings for the carrier.

Upon returning from the U.S. Navy, Vincent joined his dad in the family business. Subsequently, the Newberry business moved to Muncy and became a car dealership/fuel oil distributor, known as Vince Stein, Inc.

Vincent was known for his common sense and sound business decisions. He was quick to apply his understanding of finances to playing the stock market, which was his hobby in retirement.

Golfing was a major passion. Vincent was appointed to the county’s White Deer Golf board of directors at a time when a business perspective was needed.

Carol and Vince had five children. Stevie Stein and Cindy Breneisen are deceased. Remaining are Judy Fitzpatrick and Harry Stein, of N.J. and Brenda Stein Booth, of Sonestown. There are six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Following Vincent’s wishes, there will be no services.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Brooks Funeral Home & Cremation Services PC., 207 Broadway St., Turbotville.
