Dolores ‘DJ’ Zimmerman

Dolores “DJ” Zimmerman, 83, of Hughesville, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, at Grandview Health Home, in Danville.

Born Nov. 30, 1933, in Yakima, Wash., she was a daughter of the late Clifford and Nina (Hatfield) Cheney. Her husband of 58 years, the late William H. Zimmerman, preceded her in death on March 4, 2015.

Dolores served her country honorably in the U.S. Air Force, as a photographer. She then owned and operated a beautician shop. Dolores also worked as a corrections officer, where she started out as a switchboard operator and eventually worked her way up to shift commander. She enjoyed being a member of the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, reading, playing pinochle and going to the beach and Atlantic City, but above all, she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.

Surviving are three daughters, Lynn (Michael) Feiler, of Hughesville, Gail (Norman) Cobb, of Dumfries, Va. and Lisa (Ray) Rodriguez, of St. Louis, Mo.; two sons, William H. (Brenda) Zimmerman, V and Timothy Zimmerman, both of Hughesville; and six grandchildren, Matthew Cobb, Erin (Kyle) Cobb-Fortner, Erik Rodriguez, Patrick Cobb, Alec Rodriguez, and William Zimmerman Vl.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wallace Cheney; and a sister, Sheryl Cheney.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19 at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with Rev. Cinda J. Brucker officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Hughesville. Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Mount Zion Lutheran Church, 120 S. Main St., Hughesville, PA 17737.
