Ethel I. Gutshall

Ethel I. Gutshall, 98, of Watsontown, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Feb. 24, 2017, at the Watsontown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born March 30, 1918, in Annville, the daughter of the late Lloyd and Edna (Krall) Brandt. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Roy A. Gutshall, to whom she was married 58 years, and one sister, Margaret Jacobs.

She is survived by five daughters and one son and their spouses, Renna Mae and David Young, of Lewisburg, Barbara Kay and Robert Bachman, of Watsontown, Linda Faye and Mark Hagenbuch, of Dillsburg, Anita Rae and Alan Reese, of Hampstead, MD, Loretta Gaye and William Bachman, of Watsontown, Luther Allan and Crystal Gutshall, of Watsontown; eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Ethel was a loving mother, grandmother and dedicated minister’s wife. She enjoyed flowers, knitting, crocheting, sewing and needlework. She also liked traveling, doing crossword puzzles and listening to religious programs on the radio.

Although her family was always her greatest concern, perhaps Ethel’s most notable quality was her gentleness and kindness toward others.

Friends may call on the family from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, March 4 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 6590 Musser Lane, Watsontown. Pastor Faron Johnson will officiate at the memorial service which will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in the Delaware Run cemetery adjacent to the church.

A luncheon and time of fellowship will be held in the church social hall immediately following the graveside committal service.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her memory be made to the Delaware Run Cemetery Association and sent to Barbara Russell, 350 Fisher Drive, Watsontown, PA 17777.

Arrangements are under the care of Brooks Funeral Home, 124 Main Street, Watsontown.
