Irvin ‘Dink’ L. Houser

Irvin “Dink” L. Houser, 86, of South Williamsport, passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at his home.

He was born in Montgomery, Oct. 20, 1930, the son of the late Irvin and Martha J. (Atkins) Houser.

“Dink” married Doris J. (Harlan), March 3, 1951; they had eloped to Virginia and shared 65 years of marriage. Doris was the love of “Dink’s” life, he loved her more than his own life; whenever she walked into a room or they were out together, everyone could see how his eyes lit up and sparkled and oh how he smiled that contagious smile.

“Dink” was a high school graduate, and he retired in 1990 from Staiman Brothers after 22 years; he had also been employed for 17 years at Darling Valve. He was a relaxed, easy going man who had such an infectious smile and a positive attitude; he will be remembered as always having a big grin. “Dink” enjoyed woodworking and gardening and loved his roses. He also dearly loved his Sheltie, “Lacy,” who will miss him very much.

He is survived by his wife, Doris; a son, Brad (Roxane), of Hughesville; three grandchildren, Caleb, Kristen, Katie; three great-grandchildren, MaKenna, Mason and Noah.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal J. Houser (Gates).
