Melvin E. Wright
Melvin E. Wright, age 78, of Cogan Station, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 13, 1939, to Oscar and Iva Moyer Wright.
He graduated from Williamsport High School in 1956. Following graduation he served in the U.S. Army. He retired from Lonza in 2001, after 40 years of service. Melvin was proud to be a farmer, and worked on his family’s farm for most of his life. He married his sweetheart, Rebecca Moyer, on March 5, 1960. They enjoyed 57 years of marriage.
He is survived by his wife and children; Mindy Golomboski, Laura (Donnie) Tripoli, John (Genevieve) Wright and James Wright. Melvin is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Joey (Casey) Golomboski, Jake (Shannon) Golomboski, and Jill (Ross) Moore; Katey (Christian) Martin, Sara (Garth) Watson, Samuel (Nathan) Tripoli, Abby, and Elizabeth Wright. There are 12 great grandchildren. Melvin is also survived by his sister, Rosanna Bower.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers Charles Wright and Dale Wright.
Mel enjoyed attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting and school events, traveling across the country, hunting, reading, music, league bowling, softball and Running. He ran in several marathons. He was a lifelong member of the Hepburn Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for over 40 years.
There will be a visitation beginning at noon, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Hepburn Baptist Church, 2917 Pleasant Valley Rd. Saturday, March 25, 2017 with Rev. Clarence Thompson and Rev. Mark Mahserjian-Smith officiating. Interment at Stoltz Cemetery will follow the service.
Melvin will be greatly missed by all who loved him. In his honor, please be supportive to those who suffer from Alzheimer’s/Dementia and their families. Arrangements are by Spitler Funeral Home Montoursville.
