Benjamin D. “Pug” Stebbins, 89, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Claremont Nursing Home in Carlisle. Born November 28, 1927, in Wellsboro, to the late Arlon and Ethel (Millington) Stebbins.

Ben retired from the Patriot News where he was a pressman. He was a U.S. Navy World War II veteran. Ben was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Shiremanstown. He volunteered with New Hope Ministries. Ben was the 1945 State Champ of the Long Jump at Williamsport High School.

Ben is survived by his loving wife, Betty Louise (Bloom) Stebbins; three daughters, Cynthia Shore of Camp Hill, Patrice Chrisemer of Mechanicsburg and Elaine Brady and husband Patrick of Carlisle; seven grandchildren, Brian and Zachary Chrisemer, Matthew Shore, Kristina Wright, Kaleigh, Megan and Alyssa Brady and his nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Brian Stebbins; grandson, Jason Chrisemer; twin sister, Bette Ebner; sister, Ila Costello; six brothers, Eldon, Lester, Harold, Arlon, Clayton and William Stebbins and son-in-law, George Shore.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22, 2017, at Bible Baptist Church, 201 W. Main St., Shiremanstown. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Burial will take place at Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens.
