Wilma M. Finkbeiner

Wilma M. Finkbeiner, 93, of Williamsport, died Sunday, May 21, 2017, surrounded by her family at the Gatehouse of Divine Providence Hospital.

Born January 12, 1924, in Dorchester, Neb., she was a daughter of William and Sophia (Spicka) Pospisil. She was preceded in death by her husband Jay K. Finkbeiner who passed away Dec. 14, 1989.

Wilma was an avid music and history enthusiast. She played trumpet for the U.S.O., the Repasz band and the Joy Cayler Orchestra in New York City. She was also a private trumpet teacher at her home.

Wilma was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish.

Surviving are five children, Jan D. Finkbeiner, of Hollidaysburg, Judi A. Swanson, of Williamsport, Jill M. Martin (Roger), of Hughesville, Joni L. Tyler (Tony), of Lakeland, Fla., and Jaye Dee Fuller, of Williamsport; a brother, Charles Pospisil (Ruth), of Coon Rapids, Minn.; and a sister, Louise Zobrist (Jack) of Denver, Colo.; five grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by a sister, Erma Hast; and sons-in-law, Raymond Swanson and David Fuller.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 702 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, with the Rev. Brian VanFossen, celebrant. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Montoursville.

The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. in the church portico.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations in Wilma’s name may be made to the Repasz Band, C/O Judy Shellenberger, 117 West Hills Drive, Williamsport, PA 17701.
