George Lawrence Freeze Jr.

George Lawrence Freeze Jr., 71, of Williamsport, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at Rose View Center.

Born July 11, 1945, in Lock Haven, he was a son of the late George Lawrence Freeze, Sr. and Phyllis Hope (Frantz) Freeze.

He was a 1963 graduate of Loyalsock High School. Following graduation he served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. After his service in the military he was employed at Stroehmann’s Bakery for 17 years. Since 1990 he worked at Eagle Janitorial Company.

George appreciated fine art and literature and dabbed in poetry himself. He would always be found reading a book.

Surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Lucretia and David DeVore, of Hopedale, Mass. The three of them considered themselves Peter, Paul, and Mary after the American Folk group. Also, surviving are two aunts, Charlotte Schreppel and Mary Kuhns, both of Williamsport; his niece, Michelle and family; his nephew, Jason and family, all from Mass., as well as many uncles and cousins.

A graveside service to honor the life of George will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday June 28, today, in Balls Mills Cemetery.
