Cecille Adair Pittenger Brooks

Cecille Adair Pittenger Brooks, 79, formerly of Lexington, Ky., and wife of Harold L. Brooks, died July 7, 2017, in Otterbein, Ohio. Born Aug. 25, 1937, in Hazard, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Homer A. and Una G.W. Haddix Pittenger.

Mrs. Brooks earned her BEd from Ohio University and her M.Ed. from N. Georgia College. She retired as a thirty year educator in the Forsyth County, Ga., school system. Mrs. Brooks was a member of the Donovan Scholars Reader Theatre, the Bluegrass Kiwanis Club, the Knit-Wits and was a Kentucky Colonel. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lexington, Ky., and Otterbein Lebanon United Methodist Church in Lebanon, Ohio.

Survivors other than her husband include her son, Philip Kontos, Jupiter, Fla.; stepson, Michael (Susan) Brooks, of Mason, Ohio; and two stepgrandchildren, Chad Brooks and Andy Brooks. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Michelle Wolf. Funeral services will be held 2:30 pm Thursday, July 13, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, Ky., by the Rev. Todd Nelson. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 1 p.m. Thursday until the service time at the funeral home.
