Karen Elaine Dietrick
Karen Elaine Dietrick, 50, of Montoursville and formerly of Somerville, Mass., passed away on July 11, 2017, at home following a brave two year battle with cancer. She was born June 6, 1967, in Williamsport, the daughter of Douglas A. and Kay E. (Gilbert) Dietrick.
Surviving in addition to her parents are a sister, Deborah R. Dietrick; a brother, Michael A. (Michelle) Dietrick; four nephews, and canine companions, Dahlia and Django as well as feline friends.
She was predeceased by her maternal and paternal grandparents; her uncle, Donald Dietrick; and aunt, Patricia Stopper Gilbert.
Karen touched and improved many lives in her years working as a speech pathologist. She lived by the mantra “give everything, but up” both in her work and her life.
She was a graduate of Montoursville Area High in 1985. After high school she attended Edinboro University where she received her Master’s Degree. While in school, Karen excelled in the creative arts to include being cast in a number of plays and learning the art of loom weaving. She would continue to have a love of the arts through the years. Karen enjoyed gardening, music, literary, artistic pursuits and spending time with nature and with friends.
A memorial service will be held 6 p.m., Tuesday, July 18, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville, with Pastor Marty Coffey officiating. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Friends and family will be received on Tuesday from 5 – 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
