Patrick James Rafferty

Surrounded by the love of his family, Patrick James Rafferty, 58, of Williamsport, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 8, 2017, after a brief illness.

Born in Williamsport on Feb. 24, 1959, he was the son of the late Daniel W. and the late Kathleen Griffin Rafferty. He was a graduate of the former Stevens Middle School and Williamsport Area High School, He was a life-long member of the Roman Catholic Church of the Annunciation, now St. Joseph the Worker parish in Williamsport.

Over his lifetime he was employed at Dice Surgical Supply, Lowe’s and as a courier for a local law firm. Most recently he worked along side family at Rivals.

He was widely appreciated for his joke-telling and his warm, friendly manner. He never met anyone he didn’t like and was aptly described as the “sweetest soul who ever walked the earth.” He spent many years taking wonderful care of his mother after the passing of his father. He enjoyed wearing snappy clothes and a splash of great cologne. He really loved muscle cars, especially his candy apple red 1978 Dodge Magnum with its pipes roaring and radio blaring. He loved disco dancing and the company of friends and family. He was especially fond of his nephews and nieces — Ryan, Brennan and Reagan Rafferty, Sharon Rafferty Nevill, Meghan Rafferty Mercaldo, Kassy Rafferty Flock, Tessie and Dan Rafferty, Alicia Eisner Ball and Joel Eisner, as well as numerous cousins, grandnephews and grandnieces.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Dennis J. Rafferty.

He is survived by his life partner, Tom Baier, of Williamsport; a sister, Janet L. Eisner (Steve Eisner), of Marlton, N.J.; and two brothers, Michael R. Rafferty (Patricia Roth), Daniel T. Rafferty (Bill Wallick), of Williamsport.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in his honor Saturday, July 22 at 11 a.m. at the church, 700 W. Fourth St., Williamsport. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. in the church portico.
