Caroline A. Kern

Caroline A. Kern, 99, formerly of Greenview and of the Meadows, passed away on Oct. 13, 2017, at Valley View Nursing Center in Montoursville.

She was born in Bath, Pa., on June 28, 1918, a daughter of Charles T. and Florence E. (Moser) Rex.

Caroline was a graduate of Allentown public schools and a graduate of Kutztown State Teachers College, class of 1940, now Kutztown University with a degree in Art Instruction, English and Social Studies. She taught in private schools in the Allentown area and taught art full-time and as a substitute in the Loyalsock Township and Montoursville areas. She also taught art privately and enjoyed all forms of art. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Montoursville for many years.

Her husband of 67 years, Thomas A. Kern, died March 21, 2016. In addition, she was also predeceased by her parents; a son, Timothy R. Kern; brothers, Forrest and Oliver Rex; and a sister, Sara Eckert.

Surviving are her son, Scott (Daryl) Kern, of Cogan Station; grandson, Adam Kern; and great-grandchildren, Sidra and Dade Kern, all of Quakertown; and a daughter-in-law, Dorothy J. Kern, of Lebanon.

Funeral and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
