Jean E. Werner
Jean E. Werner, 88, Watsontown, passed away Monday, Nov. 6, 2017, at Watsontown Health and Rehab where she had been residing the past two years.
Born March 30, 1929, in White Deer, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Hackenberg) Wertz. She was married to Lewis E. “Lew” Werner on March 4, 1950, and they celebrated 62 years of marriage until his death Feb. 10, 2013.
Jean was a 1947 graduate of Watsontown High School. She was a bus driver with the family owned and operated Werner’s School and Charter Bus Service for many years, and a loving homemaker. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved times spent with her family.
She was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Watsontown and the Watsontown Chapter No. 282, Order of the Eastern Star.
Surviving are five sons: Gary L. (Cindy) Werner, in Texas; Steven L. (Brenda) Werner, Gouldsboro, N.C., Gerald P. (Debbie) Werner, Watsontown, Jeffrey E. (Karen) Werner, Muncy and Ronnie L. (Paule Cantin) Werner, Tuscon, Ariz.; a daughter, Bonnie J. (Dan) Watson, Montoursville; nine grandchildren: Melinda Rodarmel, Ryan Watson, Casey Werner, Lewis Werner, Stephanie McDuffie, Chad Werner, Jennifer Werner, Allison Reeder, and Amelia Werner; thirteen great-grandchildren; and a sister, Aerietta Fisher, Watsontown.
Preceding her in death besides her husband were a son, Scott E. Werner in 1959; four brothers: Frank, Jay, Charlie, and Bill Wertz; and three sisters: Bernice Troxell, Isabelle Smith and Esther Troxell.
Friends and family are invited to call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Brooks Funeral Home, 207 Broadway St., Turbotville. A memorial service by the Watsontown Chapter No. 282 OES will be held Saturday at 10:45 a.m. at the funeral home with funeral service following at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Faron Johnson, her pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Turbotville Cemetery.
