Roland E. Thomas Sr.

Roland Erwin Thomas Sr., 79, a resident of Muncy, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at his residence. Born August 8, 1938, at Corry, Erie Co., Pa., he was a son of the late Loren and Kathryn (Gainor) Thomas.

He was the husband of Tyrella (Pringle) Thomas with whom he celebrated a 58th wedding anniversary on May 11, 2017.

Roland was a 1956 graduate of Union City High School and a 1958 graduate of the General Motors Institute at Flint, Michigan.

He was employed as a master mechanic by Murray Motors of Muncy for 17 over years.

Roland was a member of the Muncy Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He coached and umpired Little League baseball and also coached Pop Warner Football. Roland was a die hard Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns fan.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Roland E. and wife Georgea Thomas, Jr., of Trout Run and Loren T. Thomas, of Muncy; two grandchildren, Logan Thomas and Olivia Ann Thomas; an adopted daughter, Laura Taylor; two sisters-in-law, Winifred Thomas, of Corry, Pa. and Sandra Rosenbaum, of Titusville, Pa.; and five nieces and nephews, Kathryn Ann Thomas; Crystal Rinker; James B. Thomas Jr.; David Thomas and John Thomas.

Roland was preceded in death by his daughter, Tyrella Ann Thomas on Feb. 21, 2004 and his brother, James B. Thomas Sr.

A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at 11 a.m. from the Muncy Presbyterian Church, 10 E. Penn Street, Muncy, with his pastor, Rev. Robert L. Dunlkleberger, officiating. Friends may call on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. at the Church. The family will provide the flowers.
