Walter J. Wool
Walter J. Wool, 83, of Milton, passed away Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born Sept. 19, 1934, in Limestone Township, he was a son to the late Howard J. and Anna (Steppe) Wool.
Also preceding him in death are three sisters, Mildred Embick, Mary Wool and Pauline Winchester; a brother, Norman Wool; and son-in-law, Eugene Johnston.
Walter honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. Throughout his life, he was employed by Anchor Darling Valve and Lakes to Sea Bus Company. He and his wife were former managers of the 40-8 Club in Montandon. He was a member of the Jersey Shore American Legion, Loyal Order of Moose, Jersey Shore Elks and the Fraternal Order of Police. He also was a former member of the Independent Hose Company in Jersey Shore.
Surviving are his wife, the former Donna R. Busler Button, they were united in marriage on Dec. 23, 1995; two daughters, Julie M. (Walter) Fisher, of Salladasburg and Kathi J. (Greg) Weaver, of Bastress; step daughters, Vicki A. (Max) Casale, of Trout Run and Mary Ellen Eiswerth, of Williamsport; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; brothers, Howard (Carol) Wool, of Oval, George (Eileen) Wool, of Centre Hall, and James (Mary) Wool, of Jersey Shore; and sisters, Ann (Harvey) Fink, of Jersey Shore, Carrie (Kenneth) Fisher, of Jersey Shore, Alice Purvis, of Avis and Rose Kinley, of Jersey Shore.
A funeral service honoring the life of Walter will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2017, at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. There will be no public visitation. Burial will be held in the Jersey Shore Cemetery with full military honors accorded by the Jersey Shore Honor Guard.
