C. Lamont Wallis

C. Lamont “Monty” Wallis, 86, of Moreland Township, died Thursday, Nov. 30, 2017, at Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Muncy. His wife of 64 years, Ruth A. (Bogart) Wallis, preceded him in death on May 22, 2017.

Born Dec. 18, 1930, in Moreland Township, he is the son of the late Harley LaRue and Eleanor Mae (Gottschall) Wallis.

He was a graduate of Muncy High School. When Lamont was a young man, he worked at the Smith-Wallis Grist Mill for many years. He also worked at Modecraft Manufacturing of Muncy, Moreland Township as a Supervisor, and for the State of Pennsylvania. Lamont and his wife Ruth owned and operated a dairy farm in Moreland Township, and were members of the Dairymen’s League, now Dairylea. Lamont was a member of Moreland Baptist Church, the Canusargo Grange, Muncy Lodge No. 299 F.&A.M., the Order of the Eastern Star and the Sons of the American Revolution. He enjoyed collecting farm toys.

Surviving is a daughter, Joyce I. (Robert) Peterman, of Muncy; two sons, Keith L. (Ann) Wallis, of Muncy, Michael J. (Lori) Wallis, of Montgomery; six grandchildren, Brenda, Heather, and Corey Peterman, Robert (Amy) Wallis, Michael (Caroline) Wallis II, Ariel Wallis; two great-grandchildren, Karlee Wallis and Michela Peterman; and sister, Loretta (Bob) Raup, of Muncy.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by a son, Lee R. Wallis.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 6, at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with his pastor, Rev. Robert Ingraham officiating. Burial will follow in Muncy Cemetery. Viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home. At the conclusion of the visitation Canusargo Grange services will be held, followed by Masonic Funeral Services by Muncy Lodge No. 299 F.&A.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lamont’s name to a charity of the donor’s choice.
