Megan Elizabeth West, PA-C
Megan Elizabeth West, PA-C, 33, of Williamsport, passed away at home surrounded by family on Friday, Dec. 22, 2017.
Megan was born in Williamsport on April 30, 1984, as the daughter of Kim Crain-Schilpp and John C. West.
She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church where she sang in the folk group when she was younger.
Megan graduated from Pennsylvania College of Technology in 2017 with a bachelor of science and was employed as a physician assistant with Susquehanna Health Surgical Associates.
She enjoyed knitting, cuddling with her dogs, working in the medical field to help others, spending time with friends and family and growing plants from seeds as an avid gardener.
Several years ago, she organized an event called “Celebration of Life” at Timber Power Yoga, her favorite place to do yoga and to meet new yogis. Previously diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at 19 years old, this event celebrated her being cancer-free for ten years. She also started a blog called “Life After Lymphoma” to share what she had formerly survived. Little did she know, she would end up using the same website (lifeafterlymphoma.com) as a diary of her new battle with breast cancer.
Surviving in addition to her mother of Bethany Beach, Del., and her father of South Williamsport, are her maternal grandmother, Judith Wolf, and paternal grandmother, Mary Jane West, both of Williamsport; siblings LCDR Andrew S. West, stationed in Monterey, Calif., Cassandra L. Crowell, of Pensacola, Fla., Kathryn M. West and J. Patrick West, both of South Williamsport,, Christy M. Larkin of Whiteford, Md., and Courtney S. Lynch, of Forrest Hill, Md.; her significant other Jason M. Beck, of Williamsport and his family, parents Robert J. and Joyce A. Beck Sr., of Gallitzin, sister Andrea L. Beck, of Harrisburg, and brother SFC Robert J. Beck Jr., stationed in Seattle, Wash.; several nieces, nephews, extended family and “fur babies” Doc Holliday and Vinny. Megan was preceded in death by her stepmother, Patricia A. West (Patti); maternal grandfather, Benjamin S. Crain; and paternal grandfather, Edward J. West.
They will receive family and friends at the Crouse Funeral Home, 133 E. Third St., Williamsport, from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 29, 2017.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 800 W. Central Ave., South Williamsport, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, with Monsignor Neil Van Loon officiating. A reception will follow at First Ward Fire hall, 573 Hastings Street, South Williamsport, with parking on Main Street.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that memorial contributions be made in Megan’s name to either Susquehanna Foundation for the benefit of the Cancer Treatment Center, 1001 Grampian Boulevard, Williamsport, PA 17701 or a local charity of your choice.
