Ralph Weymouth ‘Pat’ Thorne Jr.

Pat died peacefully at home the morning of Nov. 30, 2017.

Born on Nov. 23, 1935, and raised in Williamsport, he was the youngest son of Ralph Weymouth Thorne Sr. and Joan (Stearns) Frymire.

He was proud to work at Darling Valve, a Williamsport-based fire hydrant company, of which his father’s family were founders. He worked there until the company was sold in 1969.

Known for his dry sense of humor and quick wit, Pat could always bring a smile to those around him. He was a member of Dunwoody Big Bear Fish and Game Club for years. He was also a proud member of the Pennsylvania Bar association. A voracious reader, Pat was rarely seen without a book and had a great love of history.

Pat was loved deeply by his wife of 50 years, Holly Lyon Thorne and his children: Tara (Scott) Buebendorf, of Hughesville, Travis (Leslie) Thorne, of St. Leonard, Md., Tait (Foster) Vimont, of Houston, Texas, Taigen Thorne, of Williamsport and Tali Thorne, of New York, N.Y. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren and a close friend who is a part of our family, Todd Prough.

Pat was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Todd Thorne; his grandson, Hayden Todd Buebendorf; and his brothers, Robert and Anthony.

A visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 4, at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 142 Market St., in the Chapel from 5 to 7 p.m. Services will be on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 10 a.m. at St. Mark’s.
