Florence B. Smith
Florence B. Smith, 93, of Eagles Mere, died Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2018, at her home.
Born May 15, 1924, in Eagles Mere, she was a daughter of the late William T. Sr. and Fredna (Woodhead) Booth. She and her husband, George A. Smith Jr., celebrated 55 years of marriage this past August.
Florence was active in the former Federated Church, Eagles Mere, where she coordinated the annual rummage sale and participated in bible study. She was a member of the Eagles Mere Civic Club and served as a 4H leader for many years. Florence had a passion for flowers and entered numerous arrangements in the Sullivan County Fair where she received several awards. She enjoyed the outdoors; hiking, fishing, and ice skating where some of her favorite pastimes. Florence also enjoyed sewing, catering, canning, traveling and spending time visiting with family and friends.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are three daughters, Carolyn B. (Edward) Taylor, of Picture Rocks, Margaret A. Blackwell, of Montoursville, and Jeannine R. (Mark) Richlin, of Dushore; two sons, George A. Smith III, of Wyalusing and John S. Smith, of Linden; 13 grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl Booth, Vernon Booth, and William Booth Jr.
The family will hold a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 8, at the Eagles Mere Community Church, 909 Laporte Ave., Eagles Mere.
