Ruth S. Groulx
Ruth S. Groulx, 84, of Williamsport, passed away at UPMC Susquehanna on Wednesday, Jan. 31, 2018.
Ruth was born at home in Montgomery on July 31, 1933, a daughter of Robert A. and Martha Farley Young and raised by John P. and Martha Farley Campana.
She was a graduate of Williamsport High School and had worked as a waitress at the former New Town Tavern and at the former Mercaldo’s Restaurant. She was a past president of the Women’s Democratic Club. Ruth enjoyed Playing cards, reading, bingo, yard sailing, collecting candles and playing games on the computer. She was of the Catholic faith.
Surviving are her husband of 67 years, Richard F. Groulx; a son, Michael E. Groulx, of Williamsport; two daughters, Marie Y. (Dion) Stewart, Michele A. (Michael Aldenderfer) Groulx, all of Williamsport; four grandchildren, Renee Strait, Georgiana Strait, Ryland N. Smith, Hayley Groulx; and a great-grandchild, Ellie White; siblings, Roberta Leta, of Williamsport, Robert (Carolyn) Young, of Mechanicsburg and Gina Campana, of Williamsport.
In addition to her parents, a brother Roland E. Young preceded her in death.
There was no visitation, the family provided the flowers, and graveside services at the Praying Hands Mausoleum at Wildwood Cemetery were private.
