Thompson 'Tim' Young II

Thompson “Tim” Mitchell Young II, 60, of Mechanicsburg, passed away Saturday, Feb. 3, 2018, at the West Shore Hospital. Born July 22, 1957, in Muncy, he was a son of the late Othmar Linwood Young Jr. and Mary (Bruch) Young.

Tim was a 1975 graduate of Muncy High School and received his Bachelor’s degree in History from Shippensburg University in 1979. Tim retired as Director, Bureau of Business Trust Fund Taxes, Pennsylvania Department of Revenue at the conclusion of 32 years of dedicated service to the Commonwealth. He was a member of the West Shore Elks and served as a member of the Recreation Advisory Council for the Cumberland County Parks & Recreation Department.

Tim was an avid fan of the Penn State Nittany Lions, Philadelphia Phillies and the Philadelphia Eagles. He enjoyed hunting, fly fishing, playing golf, tennis and most recently scuba diving. He took great pride in the landscaping of the family home and owning and driving his 1987 Corvette. His greatest sources of joy were his wife Allison and daughter Kara.

Tim was preceded in death by his wife, Allison Tracy Gorman-Young.

He is survived by his daughter, Kara Elizabeth Young, of Philadelphia; two brothers, Roger L. Young and wife Bonnie, of Wilmington, N.C. and Jeffry B. Young and wife Bonnie, of Camp Hill; as well as his nieces and nephews, Rebecca L. Young, Todd M. Young, Jeanne R. Young and Roger “Rod” L. Young Jr.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, 2018, at Malpezzi Funeral Home, Mechanicsburg. Burial will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, February 8 at the funeral home.
