Darlene K. Hafer Dodson

Darlene K. Hafer Dodson, 82, of South Williamsport, passed away peacefully with family by her side Sunday, March 4, 2018, at the Gatehouse of Divine Providence Hospital.

Born Jan. 15, 1936, in Williamsport, she was a daughter of the late Henry B. and Kathryn I. (Gair) Green, Sr.

Darlene was a 1953 graduate of Williamsport High School. She retired from Stroehmann Bakeries after 32 years of employment.

Darlene was a member of South Williamsport United Methodist Church and a former member of Newberry United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She enjoyed NASCAR races, taking trips to Country Cupboard and was an avid Penn State football fan.

Surviving are a daughter, Rhonda Sue (Dennis) Shaffer, of Pensacola, Fla.; a son, John F. (Kristine) Hafer Jr., of Williamsport; two granddaughters; Kourtnee N. (Jason) Harris, of Brandon, Mississippi and Tawnee A. (Justin) Robbins, of Pace, Fla.; four great-grandchildren: Kaylee, Hudson, Keenan, and Tinslee; a brother, Edward J. Green, of Williamsport; a sister, Shawanna Shoulder, of Oval; special friend, Diane Ertle, of South Williamsport; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her first husband John Hafer and her second husband, Ralph Dodson, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Henry Green; a sister, Judy Kocher; and step-sister, Dorothy Hauser.

A funeral service to honor the life of Darlene will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, March 8 at Sanders Mortuary, 821 Diamond St., Williamsport. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, March 7 at Sanders.
