Dr. Robert J. Durrwachter

Dr. Robert J. Durrwachter, 82, of Montoursville, beloved husband and father, peacefully passed into the healing hands of the Almighty God on Tuesday, March 20, 2018.

Dr. Durrwachter was born May 25, 1935, to the late John W. and Carrie A. (Fry) Durrwachter.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Williamsport since April 1, 1945.

He graduated from Williamsport High School and then went on to obtain his doctorate degree from Temple University. He served his country as a medical doctor in the Air Force.

He was dedicated to the community for 40 years, applying wisdom and compassion for the diagnosis and treatment to improve the health and well being of those he served. He had a strong bond of family value, unique sense of humor, and a love for his special dogs, Maverick, Lucy Ellie, and then came Stella. He enjoyed visits with friends, playing golf and cards, and was known as the “king of the grill”. He loved to spend time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Dr. Durrwachter is preceded in death by his loving wife of 46 years, Donna (Barry) Durrwachter; and a brother, Jack Durrwachter.

He is survived by two sons, Dr. Kenneth R. Durrwachter and his wife, Janet, of Cogan Station, and Kevin J. Durrwachter and his wife, Nicole, of Georgia; two daughters, Kimberly S. Joyce and her husband, Jim Jenks, of Glenmoore, and Kristen A. Durrwachter, of Montoursville; and 8 grandchildren, Eric Durrwachter, of Cogan Station, Carrie Kolmer and her husband, Ben, of England, Scott Durrwachter, of Cogan Station, Cody Durrwachter and his wife, Donna, of Georgia, Maria Durrwachter, of Georgia, and Connor, Tyler, and Braden Joyce, all of Glenmoore.

A funeral service for Dr. Durrwachter will be held on Monday, March 26 at 6:15 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Williamsport, 604 Market St., with the Reverend Charles P. Johnson officiating.

Family and friends are invited to call from 4:30 until 6 p.m. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
