Flora Rothrock

Flora Rothrock passed away quietly surrounded by her family on March 24, 2018, at Harrisburg Hospital. Flora was born on May 12, 1921, in Kingston, Pa., the daughter of Martha and Arthur VanBuskirk.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Rothrock; her sister, Helen Kremer; and brother-in-law, Joseph Kremer.

Flora met Paul at Penn State University and they were married for 62 years. Flora graduated from Kingston High School in 1939 and Penn State University in 1943. She taught school for 28 years, 19 at Loyalsock Township schools.

She was a life member of the National Education Association, PSEA and the Retired Teachers Association of Lycoming County. She was a 50 year member of the Amity Club and the Divine Providence Hospital auxiliary, where she volunteered for many years. She was a member of the Faxon-Kenmar United Methodist Church.

Paul and Flora were proud Penn State fans and attended every football game for 43 years. They enjoyed their retirement years traveling to different countries and to elder hostels in the U.S. Flora enjoyed puzzles, playing cards, reading, watching game shows and spent many afternoons at the Hillside Senior Center.

Flora is survived by a son, Gary (Diane), of Harrisburg, Pa.; a daughter, Carol (Carl) Winner, of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; 4 granddaughters; 2 grandsons; 9 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandsons.

There will be a celebration of her life and family visitation at James Short Park, Northway Road, Williamsport, on June 23, 2018, at 2 p.m. Family will provide the flowers and donations in her honor may be made to the Gatehouse at Williamsport Hospital or Faxon-Kenmar United Methodist Church.

Flora would like to be remembered as a friendly, caring and fun-loving friend. Special thanks to all her Hillside Senior Center friends and her caregivers.
