Edna E. Shaner
Edna E. Shaner, 96, of Hughesville, died Monday, April 9, 2018, at the Gate House of Divine Providence Hospital. Her husband of 66 years, Clarence A. Shaner, preceded her in death on July 12, 2004.
Born Nov. 1, 1921, in Hughesville, she is the daughter of the late Edward and Amanda (Snyder) Parker.
Edna was a member of the Hughesville Fireman’s auxiliary, North Central Sight Services of Williamsport, and the Bethany Women of Bethany Church, now The Beacon, a United Methodist Church.
She was a wonderful cook, baker, and seamstress. Edna was known for her Christmas and Easter candy. She was known as “Nan” to everyone that knew her. Edna was a loving mother and grandmother and made everyone feel like family.
Surviving is a daughter, Carol (Roger) Royce, of Hughesville; four grandchildren, Peggy Gunter, Susan Gunter, Angie (J.C.) Miller, Lori (Corey) Twigg; four great-grandchildren, Megan (Andrew) Kerstetter, Trey (Jonna) Miller, Lakenna Twigg, Cienna Twigg; and a great-great-granddaughter, Kinsley Kerstetter.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Little; an infant son; and eight siblings.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. on Monday, April 16 at McCarty-Thomas Funeral Home, 557 E. Water St., Hughesville, with Rev. Bethany Wood officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Hughesville. Visitation will be Monday, April 16, one hour prior to funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to North Central Sight Services, 2121 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701.
