James L. Shaner

way Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at the Williamsport Home. He was born March 2, 1928, in Montoursville the son of Ralph and Carrie Fry Shaner.

Jim graduated from Montoursville High School, class of 1946 and retired from Keeler Co. as an outside industrial salesman.

He was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church for 78 years where he served in many capacities including the building committee.

He was a member of the Eureka Lodge 335 F&A.M., the Williamsport Consistory for 61 years, the Williamsport Shrine Club for 35 years, member of the Ireme Temple Shrine for 42 years, in March 1954 he became a member Darby No. 91 Supreme Grand Arch Chapter of Scotland, and was a member of the Eugene Grafius American Legion Post 104 in Montoursville.

He was a partner in Weaver Shaner Market in Montoursville and past president of the Montoursville Merchants Association. He was a Air Force Veteran serving in Germany during the Korean War.

He was a member of the Montoursville High School Band, the Post 104 Legion Band, the Muncy Municipal Band, the Loyalsock Fire co. Band and the Williamsport Consistory Tetique Band and was a member and past President of the Golden K Kiwanis in Williamsport.

He and his wife the former Shirley A. Wagner celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on August 10, 2017.

Surviving in addition to his wife are his daughters, Luann M. (Tim) Frantz, of Loyalsock and Linda L. (Sprigg) Sands, of Cogan Station; three grandchildren; and two great-granddaughters.

He was predeceased by a brother, Augustas “Gus” Shaner.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018, at the Community Baptist Church, 1853 Route 87 Highway, Montoursville. A viewing for family and friends will be held Saturday morning from 10-11 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow in the Montoursville Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Community Baptist Church or to the Williamsport Consistory.
