Richard M. Reeder

Mr. Richard M. Reeder, 86, of Montoursville, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018, at the Gatehouse at Divine Providence Hospital in Williamsport.

Richard was born in Eldred Township on April 30, 1932, the son of Henry P. and Bessie M. Reeder. On Feb. 26, 1955, Richard married Myrtle E. Jones and were happily married for 63 years.

Mr. Reeder graduated from Montoursville Area High School in 1950 and from Lycoming College in 1954. Upon graduation from Lycoming College, Richard served in the Army during the Korean War as a medic stationed at Ft. Greely Alaska with a rank of Staff Sergeant upon discharge from the Army. Mr. Reeder retired from the PA Department of Health/PA Department of Environmental Resources after working for the state of Pennsylvania for 35 years.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Jeffery M. Reeder (Sherry), of Williamsport, and Terry L. Reeder (Diane), of Troy, Va., along with four grandchildren, Matthew S. Reeder (Lauren) and Sloane M. Keyes (Joseph), both of Williamsport, as well as Kyle Reeder, of Denver, Colo., and Kaitlin Reeder, of Richmond, Va. Mr. Reeder also is survived by four great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Reeder was predeceased by his two brothers, Frank and Clair Reeder.

Calling hours for visitation will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville.

Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
