Pauline Elizabeth McClain

Pauline Elizabeth McClain, 91, a longtime resident of the Muncy and Hughesville area, passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018, at UPMC Susquehanna, Muncy Valley Hospital.

She was born April 15, 1927, to Dewey A. and Elizabeth (Zellers) Kepner. She was currently residing at Wolf Run Village in Hughesville.

Pauline was a graduate of Muncy High School and worked in the health field for many years, finally retiring in 2002 from the consulting business of medical records for nursing homes in the state of Pennsylvania. Her employment included the Muncy Valley Hospital, Susque View in Clinton County and Lysock View, as well as several doctor’s offices and hospitals in Altoona and Wilkes-Barre.

She also owned several restaurants and taverns in the ’50s, ’70s and early ’80s. They included Tivoli Tavern, Welcome Inn and the Log Cabin. She was a people person and loved the challenges presented by these endeavors.

She was a past member of the Women of the Moose and the Muncy Valley Hospital auxiliary as well as the State Professional Accredited Records Technicians.

Surviving are one son, Keith Houseknecht, and one daugther, Linda Haynes Fry and her husband, Ken, all of Pennsdale; three grandchildren, Leslie Kepner and Stephanie Budman, both of Hughesville, and Jeffrey Haynes, of Bel Air, Md.; and six great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Samuel A. Kepner.

Services will be held privately at the convenience of the family per her wishes at Muncy Cemetery.
