Richard E. Spencer

Richard E. Spencer, 66, of Loyalsock Township, died Sept. 18, 2018, at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport Regional Medical Center.

He was born July 24, 1952, in Blossburg, a son of Philip and Nancy (Kaiser) Spencer.

He was a Vietnam veteran serving in the U.S. Coast Guard as a Corpsman and was discharged as Petty Officer 1st Class. He retired from Lycoming Engines, was a master gardener and enjoyed outdoor activities including hiking, splitting and stacking wood, philosophy and music.

Preceding him in death were a son, Jeremy E. Spencer, and his father.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy L. Spencer; his mother, of Covington; children, Jodie M. Spencer, Joline M. (Dwayne) Martin, Janene M. (Kofi) Adu, Jonathan R. Spencer, James D. Spencer and Jacob M. Spencer; stepchildren, Aaron J. (Bana) Sidleck, and Abby L. Sidleck; three brothers, Phillip (Linda) Spencer, James Spencer and David Spencer; two sisters, Marilyn (Cliff) Wiles, and Carolyn (Rick) Ives; 16 grandchildren, and a great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be held 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 22, at Spitler Funeral Home, 733 Broad St., Montoursville. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.
