Ideas sought at summit for Heart of Williamsport
The Susquehanna Greenway Partnership will host “Sunday Fun-day” from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday in the Genetti Hotel Terrace Room.
At the summit, people will take part in group activities to help prioritize project ideas for the Heart of Williamsport “action plan.”
More than 900 citizens generated ideas for the plan, which is to use Monopoly-themed activities to select which project ideas should happen, said Alice Trowbridge, partnership project coordinator.
“Choose a project that you would like to help implement and share your ideas for how to make that project happen,” she said.
After two years of story-sharing, eight themes of community values emerged: arts, culture and heritage; beautiful natural environment; diverse community; educational assets; health, safety and welfare; opportunities and economic growth; small town feel; and urban amenities.
“Now is the time for you to ‘buy into’ which projects should happen first, and which should follow next,” she said.
Heart of Williamsport initiated out of the partnership in collaborations with the Pennsylvania Humanities Council, working in partnership with the Orton Family Foundation.
