Michael C. Jarrett

Michael C. Jarrett, 72, of Montgomery, died peacefully on the morning of Sunday, Oct. 21, 2018.

Born May 24, 1946, in Sioux Falls, S.D., he was a son of the late Carl E. and Lucille M. (Birgen) Jarrett. On July 1, 1977, he married the former Nancy I. Houseknecht, who survives. Together they celebrated 41 years of marriage.

Mike was a 1964 graduate of Montgomery Area High School and then continued his education through technical training.

He joined his father on the family dairy farm, Lost Brook Farm, which he and his wife eventually became the owners/operators. On the farm they cared for the cattle and worked the soil to harvest a variety of crops.

In the community he was a member of the St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, Montgomery. He also was a 50 member of the Muncy Lodge No. 299 F & AM, the Scottish Rite, Williamsport, and the Irem Temple.

Over the years, Mike was involved in Lycoming County Farm Bureau, 4-H, Holstein USA, and served on boards in the agricultural community.

He enjoyed spending time in the woods enjoying nature and hunting. Mike and his wife loved traveling and spending time in Arizona.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Kathryn (Travis) Fogler, of Maine, and Melanie (Richy) Burk, of Indiana; one son, Nathan (Jeri Beth) Jarrett, of Montgomery; 8 grandchildren, Claire, Avery, Birgen, Jarrett, Easton, Connor, Gabriel and Vivian; one brother, Roger (Denise) Jarrett, of Muncy; a sister, Joan Jarrett (Tony Mastriana), of Hummelstown; and numerous nieces, nephews and many special friends.

A Masonic service will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, at St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church, 196 Brick Church Road, Montgomery, where friends will be received from 9:15 to 11 a.m. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. at the church, with his pastor, the Rev. Theodore Cockley, officiating.

Burial will follow in John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery.
