Altheda C. Luschyk

Mrs. Altheda C. (Reademan) Luschyk, 98, died Thursday Oct. 25, 2018, at Haven Hospice in Orange Park, Fla.

Born Feb. 26, 1920, in Conyngham, Pa., where she lived most of her life, she was the daughter of the late John and Ida (Seiwell) Reademan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, John Luschyk, in 1973. She resided with family for the past 10 years, in Williamsport, Pa., then Fleming Island, Fla., where her daughter cared for her.

She was a dedicated member of Christ Church, Conyngham, Pa., and later a parishioner of New Covenant UCC, Williamsport, Pa.

A child of the The Great Depression, Altheda did not complete secondary school but made certain to earn a General Equivalency Diploma. Always a hard worker, she was a long time employee of The American Tobacco Company, Mountain Top, Pa. For over 20 years, she enjoyed many friendships and travel experiences as an independent consultant for Home Interiors and Gifts. Throughout 2017, “Granny” was the beloved greeter at Kate Roberts bridal boutique, Orange Park, Fla.

Altheda took great satisfaction in making a lovely and loving home for friends and family to visit. She made special effort to be involved in her grandson’s lives and to share what she could with others. At different times, she was a dedicated caregiver to her mother-in-law, sister and best friend at the end of their lives. Delighted to meet new people and experience new places, she loved to dance and listen to all kinds of music. She liked dining out and wouldn’t say no to a good bottle of beer. A collector of fine tea cups, a proud accomplishment in recent years was organizing a proper lady’s tea through her church.

Surviving are her daughter, Rosalind Rymsza; her son, Richard (Betty) Luschyk, Zion’s Grove, Pa.; grandsons, Robert Rymsza, Fleming Island, Fla., and Shawn (Maria) Rymsza, Bethlehem, Pa.; and great-grandchildren, Robert (Sarah) Rymsza and Alexandria Rymsza. Also surviving are nieces, Shirley Berger; Patricia Nash-Wohlfahrt, Joy Bedosky; nephews, Stan Yablonski and David Yablonski; all their spouses, children and grandchildren; and dear friends, Bob and Betsy Seiwell.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Harvey Reademan; her sister, Leatha Kisenwether; son-in-law, Robert D. Rymsza; granddaughter-in-law, Louise (Eubanks) Rymsza; and life-long best friend, Edna (Seiwell) Ackerman.

A memorial service will be held in her honor at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 17, at Christ Church, 460 Main St., Conyngham, PA 18219, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m.

The family will provide flowers and kindly suggests memorial contributions be made in her name to North Central Sight Services, Inc., 2121 Reach Road, Williamsport, PA 17701, or to the Christ UCC Memorial Fund.

Arrangements were provided by Aaron and Burney Bivens Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 529 Kingsley Ave., Orange Park, FL 32073.
