William H. Murphy

William H. Murphy, Jr., 84, of Williamsport, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018, at the Williamsport Home. William was the husband of the late Jacqueline A. Hassel Murphy, with whom he shared 48 years of marriage.

William was born in Williamsport, on Feb. 8, 1934, and was the son of the late William H. Murphy Sr. and Minnie Bennett Murphy.

William served his country in the U.S. Navy on the USS Rhodes, during the Korean War. He worked at Tetley Tea for over 40 years as a lead mechanic. William was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish. He enjoyed his time in the woods, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by a son, Michael P. (Geneva) Murphy, of Williamsport; a sister, Sally A. Barker of Colo.; a daughter in-law, Darlene Murphy, of Hazelton; and by a granddaughter, Bridget Murphy.

William was predeceased by his parents, his wife, a son, William J. Murphy, a sister Elizabeth Mothersbaugh, and by a grandson, Brandon Murphy.

Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 16, at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 702 W. Fourth St., Williamsport, with Rev. Brian VanFossen officiating. Interment will follow at Wildwood Cemetery.
