Robert E. DeWald

Robert E. DeWald, 80, of Williamsport, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2018, at Rose View Center.

Born in Williamsport on Oct. 18, 1938, he was the son of the late Clarence and Mabel (Hall) DeWald. On Dec. 3, 1960, he married the former Frances Vengoechea and they celebrated 41 years of marriage until her death April 9, 2002.

He was a 1957 graduate of Williamsport High School and worked for Sylvania, Textron and Brodart.

He enjoyed hunting, ballroom dancing, gardening and growing bonsai trees.

He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, Williamsport.

Surviving are two daughters, Amy Wilk and her husband Joseph, of Allenwood, and Beth Robbins and her husband Frank, of Moyock, N.C.; two sons, David DeWald and his wife Evelyn, of Jersey Shore, and Robert DeWald, in Arizona; six grandchildren, Theodore and Jacob DeWald, Courtney and Baily Wilk, and Noah and Olivia Robbins; and two great-grandsons.

Preceding him in death besides his wife was a brother, Kenneth DeWald, and a sister, Doris Wingrove.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside service at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 17, at Twin Hills Memorial Park where his pastor, the Rev. Brian VanFossen, will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in his memory be made to the Dementia Society at www.dementiasociety.org.
