James ‘Pap’ F. Packer

James “Pap” F. Packer, 74, of Williamsport, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019. Pap was born on July 20, 1944, in Williamsport and was the son of the late Lloyd and Ruth (Faulkner) Packer Sr.

Pap was the husband of the late A. Bernadette (Enigk) Packer with whom he shared 44 years of marriage. He volunteered at the Salvation Army during the Christmas season for over 10 years. Pap spent his life devoted to his family, and helping people in the community. He enjoyed playing cards and meeting new people. Pap touched the lives of anyone who met him. Pap had a vibrant personality and loved to joke with people.

Pap is survived by two daughters, Julie A. Harvey, of Williamsport; Lonnie M. (Scott) Smith, of Jupiter Fla.; a brother, John Packer, of Mifflinburg; two sisters, Connie (Gavin) Ferringer, of South Williamsport and Bonnie (Mike) Sherlock, of Williamsport; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and by a son-in-law, Rusty Fry, of Port St. Lucie, Fla.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Ruth Packer Sr.; his wife, A. Bernadette Packer; his brother, Lloyd Packer Jr.; and his daughter, Gloria Fry.

Family and friends are invited to attend Pap’s viewing on Thursday, Feb. 14, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Crouse Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 133 E. Third St., Williamsport. Funeral services will follow at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m., with Major Donald Spencer officiating the service.
