Frances Mae Butters

Frances Mae Butters (Frannie/Mom/Grammy) was welcomed into the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on March 12, 2019, at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport.

Born, June 29, 1943, she was the daughter of the late James and Doris (Nierle) Kase of Williamsport. She had seven sisters and five brothers.

On Sept. 23, 1961, she married the love of her life and husband of 58 years, Paul J. Butters. Together they created a legacy and a place where their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and all who entered would call “home.”

Surviving in addition to her husband are her greatest joys, her 10 children, Tim (Sandy) of Williamsport; Tom (Felicia) of Indiana; Mark (Arlene) of South Williamsport; Marcia Confer (Roan) of Montoursville; Joe (Shannon) of Williamsport; Taryn Gordon (Keith) of Texas; Paula Hornberger (Brian) of Montoursville; Jodi Nolan (Jed) of South Williamsport; Veronica Lepley (Jacob) of Montoursville; and Stephen of Switzerland; 29 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren and counting. She was preceded in death by her grandchildren, Joshua Butters and Caden Hornberger; and her brothers, James and Thomas Kase.

Frannie was a member of the Christian Church at Cogan Station. She was a bold servant and loved to talk about Jesus. She taught her children and grandchildren about His love through her actions and words. Her love and kindness knew no bounds and she displayed Christ’s love to all who were privileged enough to meet her. She is dearly missed, but we are comforted to know that she is where she has always wanted to be…home with Jesus.

She loved spending time with her family and never tired of talking with her children. There is nothing she enjoyed more than playing with her grandchildren and holding her grandbabies. Frannie loved to host large family gatherings, have picnics around the pool and encourage everyone to stay as late as they could. One of her favorite activities was playing cards and her favorite game was “Knock 31”, which she taught to all her grandchildren.

Her wish was to have a party to celebrate her life and the good news of salvation. She wanted everyone to feel welcomed to dance in her honor and share their favorite stories of her, talking and laughing. Please celebrate with us on Saturday, March 23, from noon to 4 p.m. at the Christian Church at Cogan Station, 5904 Lycoming Creek Road, Cogan Station, PA 17728.

We wish to extend a special thank you to the nurses and doctors at UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport ICU. Thank you so much for being amazing Kingdom workers. The love and care she received from you was second to none and did not go unnoticed. May God bless you for the work you do day in and day out.

In lieu of flowers or cards, please hug your children and loved ones and cherish each moment as a gift.
