Proof citizens can make an impact on crimefighting
Let’s not sugarcoat it. We’ve had our share of drug and violent crime in the city of Williamsport in recent months.
To balance that depression, it’s worth noting that the system still can work, especially when citizens get involved.
Such was the case recently, when citizen aid to police led to a drug bust and arrest of six individuals.
They were charged with conducting drug activity at 2337 Dove Street, a rental property.
It was part of a joint effort between local and state police, but the effort started with complaints from Newberry residents for about six months. Those tips led to the arrests, according to Lycoming County District Attorney Eric Linhardt.
The system can work. But it takes everyone, including citizens.
