Terminal property joins the ranks of downtown renaissance

Downtown Williamsport is in a healthy visual transformation.

Think about it.

The worst site in a neighborhood is an empty, abandoned dwelling.

The same goes for a downtown.

A demolished, cleared site indicates progress to come.

Such will soon be the case on Market Street just off the bridge in the city.

A fresh exterior or ongoing renovations in a building indicate progress under way and new occupancy to come. There are lots of examples of that downtown.

But a vacant, abandoned structure indicates negative uncertainty.

Such has been the case with the former Susquehanna Trailways building at East Third and Mulberry streets.

But City Council has approved demolition of that building with a new commercial/retail store to come at the corner.

Count that as one less building vacant, depressing and foreboding downtown.

The ranks of those continue to dwindle. And that’s great news.
