Route 15 Thruway project can have dramatic impact
Next month will mark the start of the Susquehanna Valley Thruway with construction of the Route 15 interchange south of Winfield in Monroe Township in Snyder County, and Union Township, Union County.
It will be a modest, understated start, but the end product will be anything but that.
The thruway project is budgeted at $670 million. It will include 1.5 million cubic yards of earthwork and four bridges.
And when it’s completed in 2021, there will be a bypass around the Shamokin Dam strip and Route 15 will truly be a highway that promotes safe travel and vibrant economy in the region.
It will take time, but the Susquehanna Valley Thruway can have a dramatic impact.
