Numbers favor Trump’s proposals for illegal immigration crackdown
Critics of President Donald Trump’s various proposals to crack down on illegal immigration say there is little need to do so. The number of people coming into our country illegally has dropped dramatically, they say.
For a time, that may have been true. It is not, now.
Judging by the number of people immigration agents catch crossing the border illegally, the problem is growing. “Denial of entry” stops along the U.S.-Mexico border in November totaled 39,006 — twice the number in April.
Clearly, illegal immigration remains a challenge. There may be argument about how to address it, but do something, we must.
