Staiman is fitting recipient of Hope lifetime award

Hope Enterprises has blazed a trail since its founding in the 1950s regarding programming and correct handling of people with a wide array of disabilities.

That trail has been blazed by an equally wide array of community supporters.

The organization recently decided to underscore that with its first Max Miller Lifetime Achievement Award, named for its founder.

It could not have chosen a better first recipient of the award than local businessman Marvin H. Staiman.

Staiman, who has been active in many local civic advancements, has been supporting Hope since the days when the group did not even have a building to meet in.

Everything was done by volunteers at that time.

Hope has advanced miles since then.

First the organization found a home on Catherine Street.

Since then, it has evolved to an expansive headquarters in the Industrial Park section of Williamsport that was necessary to handle its burgeoning, ever-broadening array of programs.

The operations have expanded and more people than ever are benefitting from the system that has been set up, nurtured and expanded over the course of seven decades.

Through all the phases, Staiman has played an integral role, raising funds for Hope and financially supporting the growth and expansion of programs.

Hope’s leaders wanted to recognize someone who has been helpful to the organization through all its phases with its first Lifetime Achievement Award.

Given those parameters, Marvin Staiman is a fitting recipient of this award.
