Isn’t it amazing that we have of this great nation, a president that can go before the world on camera, and get all choked up about the horrible, senseless tragedy of innocent children and adults in Newtown, Conn., a selfish act that took from parents, grandparents, relatives and friends, a blessing of God, years of joy seeing a child grow and all the happiness of it.

I take from a “Quotable” in the Sun-Gazette, Dec. 27, that President Barack Obama said, “Can we say that we’re truly doing enough to give all the children of this country the chance they deserve to live out their lives in happiness and with purpose?”

This statement looks good on the surface, but look at it a little deeper. There’s something tragically wrong when a nation and our president can turn their backs and put their stamp of approval on the murder of innocent, unborn children. I’m talking about abortion here. It’s happening every day, hundreds of children never to know and “live out their lives in happiness with purpose.”

So now our president is appoints a group of “high ranking” individuals to come up with some recommendations to find out what is wrong with our society that premeditates such horrible acts of violence. We could recommend the Bible and prayer, but that might be an infringement on someone’s rights and lifestyle.

God can still turn the wickedness of this nation into good if we from the president on down to people like you and me will humble ourselves and pray for wisdom and forgiveness of sins. We are instructed in God’s Word to pray for our president and those that are in authority over us.
