With the demise of the hockey team and the seeming end to Airmen Pond why doesn’t the city recycle the Memorial Pool complex. This could be accomplished by back filling the existing pool, probably with free fill that the city collects from cleanups and road work to a depth of about 1 foot. Then put a layer of asphalt or concrete about 4″ thick on top of it.
Then it could be flooded and used for public ice skating in the winter and roller skating in the summer. This would seem to me to be a good use of a city resource that is fast becoming an eye sore and a health hazard. And would probably be less expensive than demolition and filling of the pool complex.
