Many years ago (1960) we lived in Norway because of my husband’s work. His job took him to London from time to time, and on a flight back to Oslo one night he struck up a conversation with his seat-mate.
This was a very interesting gentleman, and my husband asked him if his work took him to London often. It turned out that he was the Norwegian Ambassador to England!
Amazed that an ambassador was travelling 2nd class, my husband asked why this was so and was told, “I always travel second class.”
Contrast that with our vice-president’s expenses on his recent trip to France.
