Violence the intentional use of physical force or power, threatened or actual, against a person, or against a group or community, that either results in or has a high liklihood of resulting in injury, death, psychological harm, maldevelopment or deprivation. This definition associates intentionality with the committing of the act itself, irrespective of the outcome it produces.

So I ask, why is it that every time there is a mass killing by somebody using a firearm is there such an outcry for more gun control? Violence is violence whether it has to do with somebody using a knife to stab another person, a hammer to bash in somebody’s head, somebody making a bomb to injure or kill a lot of people at one time (Oklahoma City, Boston Marathon, etc.) or somebody driving a car trying to hit and kill somebody else for whatever reason. Does ‘road rage’ or ‘D.U.I.’ sound like common occurrences? Yes, D.U.I! Because if you’re stupid enough to intentionally get behind the wheel of a motor vehicle after having too much to drink or using drugs and injure or kill somebody, that’s violence!

Here is my suggestion to prevent all of these crimes from occurring: 1) make it law that any person purchasing kitchen/eating utensils register those utensils just in case one of them is used to injure or kill another person, such as a women stabbing her husband with a fork when he tries to steal something off her plate while having dinner. 2) make it law that each and every hammer purchased at a hardware store be registered just in case it would be used for other purposes besides driving nails in the wall (like beating your spouse or significant other to death). 3) make it law that if you buy fertilizer, nails, blasting caps, timers, batteries, or any item that could be used to make a bomb be registered so they know who to come to should a bomb explode injuring or killing many people (may God help our farmers). 4) if you buy rat poison that should be registered as well. Hey, it can be used to kill a person! Those are just a few examples, I’m sure somebody can come up with a lot more.

Doesn’t all of the above sound utterly ridiculous? If it doesn’t, it should! Let’s face it, until mankind turns back to God and respect the way he tells us how to conduct our lives and treat our fellow human beings, the violence will continue no matter what form it comes in. No legislation or law is going to stop violence, that can only come from the heart of each and everyone of us!

So, for all of you who agree with me, may God bless you, and for those who don’t, may God bless as well as help you!
