Lack of leadership

A president skilled at leadership will get opposing lawmakers together and work with them to hammer out legislation that all can accept. They may not like all of it, but things get done.

A president skilled at partisan manipulation will use narrative and rhetoric to drive a wedge between his side and his opponents, then use his manipulative skills to demonize and try and destroy the other side.

The present government shutdown theater is proof of the manipulative skills of our current president and his party and exhibits a total lack of leadership on their part.
