In disagreement

I disagree with Mr. Beamer’s oped column regarding maintaining the prevailing wage law. I worked in an office and was actively engaged in putting out bids for our organization.

The prevailing wage law made it impossible for local, small businesses to bid on jobs. These businesses were very well qualified to work on the projects but could not comply with the rules and regulations of our government. Prevailing wages for a city are totally out of line in a more rural area such as ours.

If the unions did not have so much influence with the government, local jobs could be done with more efficiency and quality by small, local companies and/or contractors.
