Behind flood insurance changes

Just to comment on Elliott Weiss’s letter to the Sun-Gazette, he states that its the Tea Party who passed the Biggert-Waters Bill.

That act is responsible for the increase in flood insurance rates. The truth is Biggert, a liberal Republican (who is no longer in office), and Maxine Waters, a Socialist Democrat, sponsored that bill and was passed by a margin of 406 to 22. Even the National Realtors Assoc. supported the bill.

Unfortunately, it has been implemented by President Obama’s FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) to make the insurance unaffordable, which includes flood maps that do not account for non-accredited levees and other flood protection features. Leave the Tea Party alone!
